Description
Assistant Plant Manager - Germiston The successful candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 15 years experience in a manufacturing environment and at least 8 years experience in a management role, 5 of which must be in senior management and will be responsible to:* Provide support to the Head of Operations in planning, developing and implementing short and long term operational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures* Maintain plant operating procedures* Manage and oversee activities of all technical personnel* Investigate safety incidents, review safety reports and take corrective action as required* Implement lean manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement, sustainable production savings, increased waste reduction and company profitability* Oversee plant operations, ensuring plant rounds and inspections are performed, and that actions are initiated to correct issues as appropriate* Oversee plant shut down and start-up procedures to ensure they are properly executed* Plan, coordinate and execute all outages to minimize down time* Provide operations expertise in developing and troubleshooting plant control and performance issues* Prepare required operations reports* Oversee daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records* Develop and enforce Quality Assurance policies, procedures and budgets in line with Quality & Food Safety Management Systems and best practices* Direct & coordinate activities of the company's strategic plans and reviews* Validate suppliers' credentials through the Supplier Qualification Process* Review & verify the Certificate of Analysis for each batch of raw materials ordered before they are shipped* Ensure that all operational activities comply with established job safety practices and standard operating procedures for safe performance of work assignments* Ensure operations are compliant with all laid-down HSE policies and procedures* Participate in the recruitment and selections of all technicians, using established selection processes to maintain adequate staffing levels* Determine development needs of technical personnel* Provide direction to the Quality department and ensure the quality of work meets with performance expectations* Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to subordinates
