Building Inspector
Reason for Reporting
KRMS Consulting invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Building Clerk of Works based in Northern Cape. The successful incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and inspection of construction work. Ensuring that the expected high standard of workmanship is maintained on site. Preference will be given to candidates, residing within the Northern Cape . Candidate outside of the Northern Cape are to note that relocation to the Northern Cape is compulsory as this is a full time on site placement.
The Clerk of Works shall perform the following duties under the direction of the Project Architect:
Site Inspections and Monitoring:
Regularly inspect the construction site to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Monitor the construction work to confirm that it adheres to the contract documents, including compliance with building codes, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
Quality Control:
Inspect and assess the quality of materials, workmanship, and construction methods, identifying any issues of non-compliance.
Inform the Project Architect of any defects or deviations from the project requirements and recommend corrective actions.
Progress Monitoring:
Report regularly on the progress of construction works, highlighting any delays, issues, or concerns related to the schedule and equality
Ensure that construction works are progressing according to the approved project schedule.
Liaison with Contractor:
Act as the representative on-site, liaising with the Contractor to ensure adherence to project specifications and resolve issues related to work quality, progress, or safety.
Document and report any significant issues or delays to the Project Architect and provide detailed inspection reports.
Defects and Completion Inspections:
Inspect the work at key stages of the project to identify defects or incomplete work.
Assist the Project Architect in the preparation of snagging lists and ensuring the rectification of any issues before project completion.
Desired Experience & QualificationQualifications
- Diploma Qualification in Building or related technical discipline ( Quantity Surveyor, Building, Engineering, etc)
Experience
- A minimum of 4 years' construction supervision experience (Building)
- Experience in inspecting and signing off work completed
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Building Clerk of Work
Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of laws and regulations in the construction sector
- Working knowledge of Building Codes
- Basic Microsoft Office Literacy
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings.
- Detailed report writing skills
