DESIGN ENGINEER: R20 – R40K depending on experience
Duties and responsibilities but not limited to:-
Study and develop a design brief
Research whether the design will work and be cost-effective
Develop ideas for new products and the systems used to make them
Draw and create blueprints and other schematics needed
Create test prototypes and develop these for production in a timeous manner
Assess the usability, environmental impact and safety of a design
Conduct tests in order to determine whether the products meet all requirements
Collect and analyse data from tests on prototypes
Modify designs and retest them
Writing regular progress reports
Make recommendations to improve production efficiency
Modify existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance.
Develop and implement design strategies
Collaborate with other engineers, managers and workshop managers
Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for design
Research and track prototype performance and reaction
Prepare documentation, such as testing protocols, instructions and manuals
Organize plans and create schedules
Review and oversee manufacturing of designs
Place orders. Follow up on orders
Check that the correct materials were delivered
If the materials are incorrect, liaise with Stores to return them
Be involved to check when the laser cut parts arrive
Communicate any issue that arises
Work closely and communicate with the guys on the floor
Ensure that our suppliers have the updated drawings e.t.c.

Other Advantageous Qualities:
National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering or BTech: Mechanical Engineering (Specifically looking for a technically qualified individual.)
Experience working with sheet metal in Solidworks
Previous experience working with Solidworks PDM
Hands on approach, when working with prototypes and factory staff.
The ability to follow a project through, from conception to completion.
A keen interest in overlanding / 4x4 / camping
The ability to remain calm, and keep a logical and methodical approach when under pressure.
Previous work experience in a line-style manufacturing environment would be very advantageous.
