Tailings Engineer

Tailings– Senior Engineer:

• Gauteng (JHB)
• 5 – 10 years relevant experience
• Professional registration advantageous

Our Client seeks to employ a self-motivated engineer to join our Tailings department and contribute to existing and new projects. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team in an intermediate level position within a well-established consulting firm

The requirements associated with the position are as follows:

• BEng or BSc (Eng) required
• 5-10 years of relevant experience
• BEng in Civil Engineering or similar
• Professional registration (PrEng) will be advantageous
• Experience in the design of tailings storage facilities, return water dams and associated infrastructure
• Experience in carrying out annual audit inspections on tailings storage facilities and return water dams
• Experience in surveillance of tailings and/or return water dams
• Experience in tender and contract documentation
• Experience in CPTu testing and interpretation preferred
• Experience in geotechnical investigations considered advantageous
• Good fundamental understanding and knowledge of geotechnics
• Exposure to associated civil engineering activities such as hydrology, structural design, dam breach assessments, water balances
• Candidate should be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint
• Proficiency in MS Project considered advantageous
• Candidate should be proficient in slope stability, seepage analysis and FEM software, such as Geostudio.
• Candidate should be proficient in AutoCad Civil 3D or modelmaker
• Project management experience advantageous
