GL Accountant

Are you a dynamic, problem solver and number-orientated individual? My client, based in the northern suburbs, is looking for a Ledger Controller to be responsible for general accounting activities within their group of companies. The successful candidate will navigate a multicultural and highly innovative environment while partnering with a number of internal customers within finance to ensure that the Accounting function operates at a level that exceeds expectations. This is a contract position, so having no notice period is essential.

Responsibilities:

• General Ledger and Month End Reporting
• Maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliations in line with corporate requirements
• Accounts Receivable and Payable
• Monthly reconciliation of all Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledger accounts
• Balance GL to AR and AP sub-system balances and reconcile
• Provision for doubtful debts calculations
• Process all payments via the ERP system from the bank statements and reconcile statements
• Inter-company Accounting
• Inventory
• Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls (SOX)

Requirements:

• Good understanding of accounting principles (IFRS, US GAAP)
• Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• Professional Accountant (SA), AGA(SA) distinct advantage but not essential
• 3-5 years maximum general accounting experience in commerce or completed SAIPA/SAICA Articles
• Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX reporting an advantage
