VACANCY: DEPUTY SHERIFF
The Office of the Sheriff for Newcastle invites applications from suitably qualified, disciplined, and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of Deputy Sheriff.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute court orders, summonses, warrants, and other legal documents as directed by the Sheriff.
• Serve legal processes in accordance with the Sheriffs Act, 1986 (Act 90 of 1986) and relevant court rules.
• Maintain accurate records and submit timely returns of service.
• Handle legal documents and monies entrusted with integrity and confidentiality.
• Provide professional service to litigants, attorneys, and members of the public.
• Uphold the values and reputation of the Sheriff’s Office through disciplined, ethical conduct.
Minimums Requirements
• South African Citizen.
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification (post-matric legal or law enforcement training advantageous).
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Ownership of a reliable personal motor vehicle is mandatory.
• The vehicle must be roadworthy, licensed, and suitable for travel across the area of jurisdiction.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and at least one other South African language.
• Good interpersonal skills, strong time management, and attention to detail.
• No criminal record or pending disciplinary matters.
• Must be willing to work extended hours and travel within the designated area when required.
