Location: Durban North
Hours: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
Salary: R13500 Per Month

We are a friendly Independent Opticians looking for an experienced part-time Receptionist / Administrator to work in our practice in Durban North. As personal service, quality and care are important to us as a business, we are looking for someone who is a natural at creating a welcoming and friendly environment and who has a professional, efficient and confident personality.

Good communication skills and an interest in learning to develop your knowledge of optics is essential as you will be required to promote and explain our eye care services to our clients both on the phone and face to face.

This role plays an important part in the smooth running of the business working closely with customers on a day to day basis and providing an efficient service to the rest of the team. This position is very much a front of house role and you will be working primarily on your own in Reception. Ability to be a quick learner who can pick up and follow different systems in place and to be able to multi-task are a must.

Responsibilities

Meeting and greeting clients, handling customer enquiries face to face, by email and over the telephone.
Booking appointments on the computerised appointment diary.
Inputting patient data into the patient management software.
Preparing patient record cards and NHS paperwork for consultations.
Ordering and stock control of contact lenses, contact lens solutions and eye care products.
General administration duties including filing.
Maintaining the reception / waiting area to a high standard.
Training

Training will be given over time to develop your skills in all aspects of this position and will include:-

Understanding a range of eye conditions including how they affect the health and vision of the eyes.
Understanding and interpreting spectacles prescription and contact lenses specification for ordering of contact lenses and spectacles.
Requirements

Strong organisational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
Bright, friendly personality that easily builds rapport with people.
Confident in customer facing role.
Comprehensive ability to use Windows based software.
