Part-Time (Day) Helper/Caregiver Needed

A part-time helper/caregiver is required for a lady with a disability. The applicant should preferably stay in Sunnyside, close by or will not face commuting challenges.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Bathing (if a female helper applies)

· Cleaning one bedroom, office space, kitchen, and bathroom

· Cleaning the walls and windows (once a week)

· Doing the dishes

· Cooking (mostly do meal preps for the rest of the week)

· Laundry (done once a week or as per the requirement)

· Bathroom use (in cases where the electric wheelchair is malfunctioning)

· Driving to work or when doing other errands (goes to work three (3) times a week). Might go a week if required although it hardly happens.

· Any work as per the requirement by the employer.

Skills and Behavioural Attributes

· Be passionate about the work.

· Be passionate about working with a person with a disability.

· Cleanliness is always required.

· Ability to fully drive without being taught (required).

· Ability to openly communicate about challenges and areas of improvement.

· Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.

· Ability to cook nice basic meals.

Strict Requirements

· Experienced driver (test drive will be conducted).

· Valid driver’s license.

· Ability to carry a person from the wheelchair to the car and back (currently weighs 79 kg).

· Ability to cook basic meals.

· No age restriction.

· Any gender is welcome to apply.

Hours

· The employee will be required to come a minimum of three (3) times a week and a maximum of four (4) times a week (will either include a Saturday or Sunday – usually for shopping).

· No specific hours are required. Once all the tasks have been completed, the employee can leave after notifying the employer.

Additional Benefits

· The employer is opening a food business in June 2024. If the applicant is interested, they can become involved as a part-time cook for an additional income, which will increase the number of days and hours of work.

Pay

· R2000 per month (to be reviewed after 4 months).

· Separate pay for cooking for the business will be discussed should the applicant become interested (optional).
