1931 Chevrolet Independence
In 1929, the American stock market crashed, setting in motion the Great Depression covering the period October, 1929 to 1939. Everything went into decline including the car market where Ford’s output dropped by almost two-thirds. Chevrolet fared only slightly better, but enough to reclaim first place in the American car sale market. The Chevrolet Independence was manufactured in 1931 when a number of styles were produced, but only 23 000 cabriolets. Powered by a 6 cylinder engine, this vehicle could reach a top speed of 85 mph (136.8 km/h). Fitted with big headlamps and spoked wheels which were the order of the day, this lovely model is in good condition and would be a great addition to any collection.
