The Classic Carry On Up The Jungle DVD BRAND NEW
These vintage comedies always bring a smile to my face. They're cheeky, fun and bring back many happy memories.
The action, oddly enough, is set in a jungle...
Bernard Bresslaw makes a great "local guide" for the expedition party which includes Sid James, Kenneth Connor, Joan Sims, Frankie Howerd.
Frankie Howerd pretty much plays himself, so to speak, and has the great line "a little more?" in the "snake sliding up the leg" dinner table scene featuring Joan Sims. Joan's expressions are classic as she assumes in turn that one of the other guests is caressing her under the table until she sees their hands...
Sid James is a great cheeky chappie with his growly "phwoar" noises (and there's a great visual joke with a gun "cocking itself" when he sees Joan Sims in a state of undress),
Joan is an excellent "posh lady" with the young Jacki Piper as her maid. Jacki goes off to have romantic liaisions with Terry Scott, who makes an amusing but unlikely "jungle boy". Terry turns out to be Joan's long-lost son, who went missing in childhood. Jacki's character is called June...
For those who don't know Jacki, she was Sid's daughter in Carry On At Your Convenience and also appears as a nurse in Carry On Doctor etc.
Sid and Kenneth Connor end up being rescued from a hostile tribe by the "lubbi dubbies", which is an amazonian tribe led by the glamourous Valerie Leon. They have a slightly unlikely chief in the form of the less-than-muscular Charles Hawtrey.
It's rated as suitable for all the family and is fun for all.
