2007 Subaru Forester XS - "Alice the Overlander" - R70 000

Honest up front: this is a strangely difficult sale. These are as rare as hen's teeth and every time I look at her I'm tempted to keep her. But I'm making space for new adventures, so it's time.

She came to me when my parents left for America, spent most of her life in Joburg, and the last three years in the Cape. She's done Namibia, Botswana and plenty of Cederberg camping. 2.5L petrol (non-turbo), manual, ~10 km/L.

Looked after, not abused:

• Engine fully rebuilt Mar/Apr 2025 (timing belt snap) with new valve seals, new belt and water pump, under 10,000 km ago
• Battle-tested straight after on a 6,000 km Botswana trip, zero hiccups
• New clutch (2yr), shocks (3yr), tyres (1.5yr, General Grabber AT 215/65 R16), battery (1yr)
• Brake pads (2yr), recent spark plugs and oil service
• Upgraded larger radiator, no overheating

Set up for off the tar:

• Lifted, dual-range gearbox (kept us moving through Botswana sand), ATs that air down to go anywhere
• Aluminium sump guard (available to fit)
• Anderson plugs and a Victron Cyrix combiner for a second camping battery, wiring harnesses ready
• Wiring set for adding LED lights
• Removable custom camping drawers (sold with or without)
• Thule roof racks that store inside the car, on/off in about 8 min
• Tow bar, upgraded/polished headlights (no water ingress), blacked-out grille, cruise control

Note: rooftop tent NOT included (rent a few from gocamp.co.za to try).

Just as happy in town: drop the seats and she hauls anything (we've fetched wood and panels for cupboards). Nimble, great turning circle, and the lift means kerbs are no concern. Equally at home at 120+ on the highway or 40 km/h on gravel, school runs, dogs to the beach, surfboard on the roof.

Also included: dog divider/parcel shelf, rear cover, rubber mats, and spares (air filter, throttle bodies, air-con compressor, pricey from Subaru, the throttle-body sensors alone are R2k each).

She's a 2007, so honest body wear (nicks and a few small dents, but nothing like a rusted grater). Everything works, drives beautifully, tracks straight, brakes good, seats no tears.

Looking for someone who gets the rarity and the value of one already lifted and sorted, not a project. I've looked after her.
