First-generation Lexus IS models are becoming increasingly difficult to find in clean condition, and the chassis has earned its place as one of the best Japanese sport sedans of the era. Most enthusiasts chase the IS300 for the 2JZ-GE, but this car went in a different direction and arguably a more serious one.
This IS200 has been professionally converted to a 2GR-FSE V6 by the previous owner. The result is a lightweight, high-revving, modern Toyota/Lexus powerplant in one of the best-balanced rear-wheel-drive chassis Toyota ever made.
The car was originally white and has since been repainted gunmetal grey. Ive removed the stickers and refitted OEM wheels to bring the car back to a cleaner OEM+ sleeper look. Most people wont realise what it is until it pulls away.
And it absolutely pulls.
This is not a stock IS200 with cosmetic mods. The car has real pace, strong torque throughout the rev range, and that addictive naturally aspirated V6 character. It wants to accelerate all the time. The chassis still feels tight and responsive, and theres clearly more potential left in the platform for someone who wants to take it further.
