R2900 each A BIT OF HISTORY: This is an original deckchair from the passenger liner S.S. NEW AMSTERDAM of the Holland-America line (now owned by Carnival Corporation ). The S.S. NEW AMSTERDAM was in service from the late 1890's through to the mid 1940's, or perhaps 1950's. It was the first of 3 ships of the Holland-American Line to bear the AMSTERDAM name. The second ship was the S.S. NIEUW AMSTERDAM (1937 to 1971, scrapped in 1974). The third ship bearing the AMSTERDAM name is the M.S. AMSTERDAM which is currently in service. This deckchair is a lounge style and is 946mm from the rear end to the front of the footrest. The distance between the feet of the chair itself, without the leg-rest extended, is 946mm. The height of the chair back from the floor is 1000mm. The height of the chair back from the seat is 760mm. The width of the chair, at the armrests, is 558mm. The length of the chair seat is 609mm The length of the leg-rest extension is 508mm. The height of the leg-rest above the floor is 304mm. All hardware is made of brass. There are brass hinges at the arm joints and at the leg-rest attachment to the seat. On the rear of the seat back, at the top, is a brass plate inscribed: "S.S. NEW AMSTERDAM" on the front edge of the seat is a brass plate inscribed: "1st class only" Less
