Core Finance seeks to place a candidate into the role of Group and Technical Accountant. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in accounting for and overseeing group related transactions and all technical (i.e, Tax, IFRS) transactions within the Company and the Group. Core Finance form part of group services to the Insurance Company and is responsible for the following areas within the company; treasury and capital management, regulatory and financial reporting, group accounting, creditors, annual budgets, tax, consolidated shareholder reporting and supporting broader group strategies and initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

• End-to-end financial function for the investment company and the holding company, including processing of payments, preparing journals, preparing balance sheet reconciliations and annual budgets

• Manage and implement the process of automating the monthly management accounts using Adaptive

• Calculation of the expected credit loss for financial assets within certain entities in the group

• Review of annual valuations for the equity investees and subsidiaries

• Review of equity investee AFS as well as broader group AFS

• Preparation of standalone annual financial statements for the investment company and holding company in CaseWare

• Preparation of consolidation annual financial statements of the holding company in CaseWare

• Ensure financial statements comply with IFRS and JSE listing requirements

• Conversion of financial statements built in CaseWare to XBRL files for submission to CIPC

• Asist in integrating monthly TB’s of equity investee and associated companies to facilitate monthly consolidated reporting

• Document amendments to existing IFRS standards/new standards, how it applies to companies within the group and ensuring compliance thereof

• Submission and payment of Dividend Withholding Tax

• Preparation of provisional and final tax computations including submission and filing of returns for certain entities within the group

• Consolidation and submission of monthly Company VAT return

• Perform internal VAT audits

• Documenting and ensuring compliance with all tax legislation and changes thereof

• Assist and maintain workflow processes for Finance and manage Finance policies

• Quarterly and ad-hoc reporting requirements

• Initiate and drive process improvement

• Assisting with audit requirements, preparation and collation of documents for audit

• Involvement in adhoc projects

Qualifications & Experience:

• CA(SA)

• Knowledge and

• experience

• Competence with Microsoft Excel, especially an ability to work with pivot tables and other advanced functions

• CaseWare experience (design mode preferable)

• 2+ years post articles experience in a similar role

• Knowledge of insurance industry advantageous but not essential

• Experience with AccPacc preferable
