Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform underwriting on individual life policies
Perform underwriting of policy applications and amendments according to policies and procedures by phoning clients and obtaining all medical information e.g. evaluate information provided (medical, occupational) and make a decision as to what terms will/can be offered to the applicant by making use of the QUIRC and AIMS systems.Override QUIRC decision if and when necessary.Provide underwriting decision to client telephonically (decline, loaded, excluded)Liaise with re-insurers, medical practitioners and other external parties on underwriting mattersComply with legislation and ASISA protocols (TCF)Placements of ASISA listings (serious medical conditions on central register)Liaise with clients (i.e. policy holders, branch and sales staff) (TCF) to obtain all medical information by means of questions generated by the QUIRC underwriting system.
Perform new business administration on individual life policies:
Place request for pathology nurse services to draw blood, Train new employees with regards to new business and underwritingWrite and send “HIV+ letters” to doctorsWrite and send reasons for loadings and/or declined cases to doctorsEnsure that correct correspondence, SMSs are sent to branch, intermediary, sales manager and client.
Assist with complaints resolution and compliance (TCF)
Monitor the timeously resolution of complaints in accordance with the complaints resolutions policyProvide inputs on the complaints resolutions policy and procedure
Auditing function
Audit underwriting decision of more Junior Underwriters as well as Specialist Underwriters (spot checks)

Description
Conduct research and perform analysis (TCF)
Oversee research into different areas of investment management
Conduct research into different areas of investment management flowing from the results of the analysis of the investments.
Evaluation of fund manager performance against identified benchmarks and mandate provided to the manager.
Compare and monitor actual investments against investment policy, manager mandates, the asset-liability model and statutory asset spreading requirements.
Support the valuation of group companies where applicable.
Ad hoc research items time to time.
Compile Reports
Compile/draft standard reports to the relevant forums are required (CapMan, RiskCom, board of directors) re - investment management and performance. (TCF)
Provide ad hoc reports when required
Provide information for Financial and Statutory reports
Prepare accounting entries relating to investments.
Present necessary detail on investments for users of management accounts.
Give relevant information for financial statement purposes.
Perform fund administration (TCF)
Relevant calculations on investments ensuring liability transactions are timeously reflected in the investments.
Facilitate applicable instructions to investment administrator/asset manager(s).
Prepare Tax Calculations
Compile information required for submission of dividend tax return.
Submit dividend withholding tax return to SARS
Acquire and collate relevant information for CGT calculation purposes
Strategic considerations
Offer support for key focus areas as identified.
Requirements
