To facilitate the learning process the sewing lessons have been divided into 5 courses.
The objective of each of the courses briefed below is for the sewer to learn the sewing techniques of the appropriate level and to finish at least one garment determined by the course. This is to ensure that each sewer, upon completion of the course, has the ability to make garments on their own at the relevant competency level.

WANT TO MAKE AWESOME LEGGINGS? UNDIES? TANK TOPS? T-SHIRTS? then come to an overlockers class for 4 weeks, and master the machine that makes your sewing look really PRO. Do you need an overlocker? Good question! I bought my 1st Elna overlocker about 20 years ago. I think I have made its original cost back over 20 times by now. I love it still! The main difference between overlockers and normal sewing machines, is the fact that an overlocker does both the actual seam & the seam finish , PLUS some cutting, resulting in perfectly done seams, with relatively little seam-allowance and it does all of this in a fraction of the time it takes to sew a normal flat seam and then do a seam finish such as pinking and stitching . It also is indispensable when you plan on sewing a lot of knitted or stretchy fabric mostly due to the fact that most overlockers have something called differential feed, making the feed dogs feed the material in such a way so as not to stretch the material while it is being stitched – resulting in a balanced seam, that does not pucker or make waves, something I am sure some of you would have seen when trying to sew ‘ t-shirt’ fabric with your normal sewing machine. These machines are great and if you are keen to find out more, or even better, have one, come to our next overlocker course, which covers a bunch of different stitches, some techniques for sewing with knits, as well as how to thread the machine properly – something most owners of overlockersare super scared of, and something which can easily be sorted out should you have the patience to learn. This is a great way to try- before –you –buy, and so you can make an informed decision about a machine that is potentially a big investment, given the costs of new ones on the market currently. The mini course is 4 weeks long, 3 hours each week. I can take max 7 people. I have some overlockers to use in class, as well as dedicated coverstitch machine so we have added a lot of new things to this course. Email to register. For newcomers the course is R850, and for returning students, is it less 10%, making it R765. We are situated on Shortmarket street, close to Green market square .Cape town CBD. (WE ARE RECOGNIZED BY ELNA SOUTH AFRICA AS A TEACHING CENTER FOR SEWING - BUT WE ARE NOT AGENTS, NOR DO WE SELL ELNA PRODUCTS) Your instructor has more than 2 decades of sewing experience, is patient, energetic and has lots of creativity and energy to get you passionately sewing in no time. YOU ATTEND ONE CLASS A WEEK for 4 weeks, then you can continue with your projects at the studio during designated sewing studio open time blocks, in the company of others also sewing their garments, at the sewing cafe. T&C's apply. Ema il us to register for this course, at 6 pm. class ends at 9 pm. You do not need an overlocker to join , however, using one form the studio costs an additional R150.
