Job Summary: As a dispatcher, you will be
responsible for managing and optimising the flow of goods and resources to meet
customer demands and trip schedules. Your primary focus will be on coordinating
transportation routes, communicating with drivers, and resolving any issues
that may arise during the transportation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Action of Route Planning: Develop and optimise delivery
routes to ensure efficient use of resources, minimize transportation
costs, and meet trip deadlines.Driver Assignment: Ensure that drivers and vehicle
assignments are monitored, adhered to and actioned, while always
considering driver availability, vehicle capacity, and customer
requirements.Communication: Maintain constant communication with drivers,
providing them with route instructions, updates, and addressing any issues
or delays. Ensure drivers have the necessary documentation and equipment
for their trips.Monitoring: Use tracking software and GPS systems to monitor
the real-time progress of trips and drivers. Address any deviations from
planned routes or schedules promptly.Problem Resolution: Act as a point of contact for drivers and
customers in case of issues such as breakdowns, traffic delays, or trip
discrepancies. Develop solutions to minimise disruptions and ensure
customer satisfaction.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of trips and driver
logs. Prepare and process trip documents, slips and other paperwork as
required.Compliance: Ensure that all transportation operations comply
with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including safety
standards and environmental regulations.Customer Service: Interact with customers to provide updates
on trip status, answer inquiries, and address concerns in a professional
and courteous manner.Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels at
various locations to support efficient order fulfilment (example: cleaning
material, tools, mics, etc.).Internal department communication: Provide insights and
recommendations for process improvements.Mechanical experience: Provide basic mechanical
assistance on coaches as and when needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or
dispatching is preferred.Strong organisational and multitasking skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety protocols.Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure
environment.Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Mechanical experience with coaches – non-negotiable.Code 14 with valid PDP and coach driving experience –
non-negotiable.
