The Opel Corsa is a compact car classed as a super mini that has been produced by the German company Opel since 1982. It has previously been sold under a number of different brands, the most notable being Vauxhall. The Opel Corsa has gone through four distinct model generations, and was first manufactured in Zaragoza, Spain.
A secondhand Opel Corsa should be easy to find, as it has been and remains a very popular car. You should be able to search for and find a used Opel Corsa for sale – the price range varies tremendously depending on the model, age and condition of the vehicle.
Opel Corsa A and B
The Opel Corsa (known as the Vauxhall Nova in some markets) was launched in September, 1982. There were two body styles, a 3 and 5-door hatchback and a two-door and four-door sedan. Initial engine sizes were designed for the reliable end of the market as opposed to the sports or performance end, running from 1,0 L to 1,6 L.
The Corsa B was unveiled in 1993, with the Nova name being dropped. Again the car was produced in a 3 and 5-door hatchback body style, but added to the range was a 4-door sedan, a 5-door wagon and a 2-door coupé utility pick-up. Engine sizes were again kept small, ranging from 1,0 L to 1,7 L.
Opel Corsa C and D
Sales of the Corsa remained strong throughout the 1990s, and in 1999, Opel revealed the latest model, the C generation. This introduced a different styling and several upgraded components. This model was a tremendous success, particularly in the United Kingdom where it was the second best-selling car overall in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
The D generation model was introduced in 2006, but only as a three-door and five-door hatchback or a three-door van. In the UK, What Car? magazine awarded the Corsa the 2007 Car of the Year award.
The Opel Corsa is definitely one of the most popular and reliable super mini models of all time. The compact yet powerful engine makes for both a reliable ride and efficient fuel consumption. For a small car, the Corsa is particularly quick around corners, and the interior is both comfortable and pleasantly spacious.
