We are
looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic / Mechanical Maintenance Technician to carry
our routine tests and preventative maintenance on diesel pump sets for
sprinkler systems at client’s premises. Limited repairs may also be carried out
from time to time. These responsibilities include performing regular
inspections and preventative maintenance of diesel engines, pump sets and
valves.
To be
successful in the position offered you should have a practical mind, mechanical
aptitude, and strong attention to detail. Ultimately, you should be able to
ensure that machinery and equipment, that typically forms part of life-safety and
property-safety systems, are in excellent operating condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Performing
routine preventative maintenance on diesel engines / diesel pump sets.
·
Perform
basic repairs of diesel engines,
·
Inspect
and test both electrical and diesel driven pump sets as well as control valves,
valve packs and sprinkler systems,
·
Perform
routine control valve overhauls,
·
Conduct
Flow tests,
·
Troubleshooting
machinery and diesel engines and pump sets.
·
Maintaining
a clean and organized work area.
·
Complying
with health and safety procedures and protocols to ensure safe working environment,
·
Reading,
interpreting and following instructions and operation manuals.
·
Maintaining
a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.
·
Cleaning,
repairing and installing equipment and parts as needed.
·
Operating
a variety of hand and power tools.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
·
Qualified
Diesel Mechanic,
·
3
years of experience as Diesel Mechanic,
·
Strong
knowledge of diesel engines and other components, such as pump control panels,
·
Experience
in basic pump maintenance is preferable,
·
Valid
driver’s license with clean driving record,
·
No
criminal record,
·
Matric
preferable,
·
Physically
fit and in good health,
·
Good
troubleshooting skills,
·
Mechanical
aptitude and ability to learn on site,
·
Knowledge
of health and safety regulations,
·
Ability
to liaise with clients.
Zero
tolerance policy is applied regarding drugs use, due to Health & Safety
requirements at Clients premises.
Basic diesel
mechanic background will be complemented with fire industry specifics that will
be taught on appointment.

Duties and
Responsibilities:

To assist with the installation and servicing of Fire systems using
various hand and power tools

To collect, gather, pass on to the
technician, and look after the safekeeping of: all tools, equipment and stock
that the technicians use.

Assist with the
collection, loading, delivery
and transportation of materials
required for their or another teams project between the Company’s premises,
premises of suppliers and the project site.

To ensure they fully understand each instruction given to them by their
technician(s)

To listen, adhere and learn from all
legitimate instructions or information from their technicians and / or
management.

To report to their technician(s) of
their progress throughout the day

To clean the technician(s) vehicle on
a weekly basis or as instructed by technician and/or management.
·
To learn through practice the
installation of cabling and conduit and the use of the Cabler’s tools.
·
Assist with any general maintenance
around the office, on company vehicles or on a customer’s site as instructed by
management.
