exciting opportunity has arisen at A.C. Whitcher, a sawmill situated in
Tsitsikamma, for a Diesel Mechanic to join our workshop team. We are looking for an energetic and skilled
individual who is a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic with proven
experience in maintenance and repairs of Forklifts, Bell equipment, tractors,
fire equipment, trucks and light duty vehicles.
In addition, this position may also require ordering and management of
spare parts, management of fuel usage and general housekeeping.

Vehicle Inspections and

inspection sheetsEnsure all special tools and equipment is available and in working
conditionEnsure the following (minimum) aspects
are fully understood and can be repaired and maintained as required:
Engine; Gearbox; Retarder Clutch; related functionsTyre Audits and rotation of tyresBrakes operationsBasic Air SystemsEnsure post-repair check-lists are done
Adhere to all Health and Safety policies
and proceduresMust attend to all the breakdownsPerform any other duties assigned by

A busy workshop in East London is looking for a
permanent Diesel
Mechanic.
This position will require travelling to our project sites throughout the
Eastern Cape, which may include overtime and overnight travel.
Candidates must have a clear criminal record, be in
good health & be in possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Requirements:
Trade tested diesel mechanic with 8 – 10 years of (mechanical,
hydraulic, and electrical) experience. MUST INCLUDE YELLOW PLANT AND TRUCK
EXPERIENCE. Work will also include services and repairs to small plant.Must be able to overhaul engines, perform services, correctly
diagnose faults, and carry out maintenance & repairs on both trucks
and yellow plant.General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition,
starting, charging, illumination).Ability to identify and correctly utilise relevant diagnostic
equipment and specialised tools (candidate to have their own basic tools).Valid drivers’ license, code 8 or above.Experienced in the operation of a variety of tools, welding
equipment, etc.Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition.Highly organised and self-motivated; working unsupervised whilst
using own initiative and problem-solving skills.Ability to effectively manage time and administration related to
job cards, etc.Ability to execute job function with urgency but ensuring that
quality of work is not compromised.Willing to travel out of town for breakdowns.Working Monday to Saturday, willing to work after hours for
breakdowns / overtime.Ability to manage sub-ordinates (if the need arises).Salary is negotiable (dependent on experience, qualifications, and
capabilities).
Responsibilities:
Maintain, service, & repair plant & equipment, systems, &
products on company premises or at sites in a timely, cost-effective
manner so that project requirements are met.Maintain vehicle records / completing job cards.Servicing of plant, vehicles and equipment and maintaining
serviceability to specified standards and according to set procedures by
delivering quality service / maintenance.Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting in event of breakdown
of equipment; communicate what repairs are needed by advising workshop
manager.Maintain vehicle maintenance and operational data / history by
updating and timeously communicating information that must go on record.Ensure proper communication between self and workshop manager.

Requirements:
-Qualified Diesel Mechanic.
