Activities & Hobbies

When not at work, South Africans enjoy staying busy with activities and hobbies. Individuals find unique opportunities to enjoy their passions regardless of where they live. Of course, you will love to buy activities and hobbies accessories.

A much loved activity is travelling. Many people especially enjoy looking at the natural wonders that make South Africa unique. If this describes you, then make sure to consider going to the Wild Coast, Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, Robben Island, Kruger National Park, or the Winelands.

When not busy at work, many people enjoy spending time fishing. Fly fishing is particularly popular with favourite spots like Highlands Meander in Mpumalanga and Rhodes in Eastern Cape for trout fishing. Others enjoy heading to False Bay and Cape Point in Western Cape for the largest snoek and tuna. Still others head to the Orange River for some of the best small- and largemouth yellowfish fishing in the world.

Another chosen activity for many South Africans is gardening. While many people choose to do this activity at home, others choose to travel to nearby great South African gardens for inspiration. Some of these gardens include Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens and Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg or Pretoria Botanical Gardens in Pretoria.

Rather you just watch or participate in the fun; sports are an often chosen pastime in South Africa. Football is a preferred activity with many fans following the South African national team. Others cannot imagine a more thrilling time than watching The Proteas cricket team play. Other favourite sports include boxing, hockey, tennis, and netball. Golf is often a passion with many top courses located across the country including Leopard Creek, Fancourt, Gary Player, and Pearl Valley. Many people enjoy running rather it be a quiet jog around the block or training for the Comrades Marathon, Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, or the Loskop Ultra Marathon.

Gambling is another favourite pastime. Rather heading to Arlington Race Course in Port Elizabeth, Clairwood Turf Club in Durban or Durbanville Race Course in Cape Town, many people enjoy betting on the horses. Still others enjoy heading to the casinos including Sun City, Gold Reef City and Montecasino.

Activities and hobbies are a great way to relax after work, on the weekends, and on vacation. Find the supplies for activities and hobbies in the classifies.
