Our client in Western Cape is looking to fill a position for a Service Technician. Servicing of Industrial Surface Motive Power (SMP) cells.ROLE DESCRIPTION:Service SMP batteries and compile service reportsDiscuss service reports with customers – identify problemsBuild batteries and fit new cells into batteries at customer or Cape Town site.Repair/replace connectors/plugs on siteCollect and deliver cells to be replaced on siteHelp with collections and/or deliveries if requiredCollect and deliver distilled water/plugs connectors for replacementGive maintenance training (practical) if required to customersAssist in other areas when service technicians are on leaveLiaise with SMP Sales Representatives & SMP coordinatorDemand calls – breakdowns from customers (after hours work may be required from time to time)Responsible for company vehicleLooking for new customers and reporting to representativesAssisting with all OE customers and sort out problemsREQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Grade 12 with 12 months related experience.N3 in electrical engineeringA Technical Battery course is desirable as strong product knowledge and fault finding skills are required.Code 10 plus PDPForklift License will be an advantage

Expectation and responsibility of the role include:
-Must have 5-10 years post apprenticeship experience
-Replacing and repairing of panels; straightening and filling
-Completing body alignment
-Welding and bonding
-Filler work, dent removal and pin pulling
-Ensuring vehicles are thoroughly examined and reporting orally/in writing on general condition of vehicles with emphasis on customer safety and satisfaction
-Must be able to carry out large repairs to detail
-Working in a manner consistent with the minimisation of lost, non-revenue and/ or diversionary time, recording all such time in an accurate and complete manner.
