At present it is not necessary, since sufficient water is stored in the earth dams. The annual rainfall is 800 mm, which occurs mostly during the winter.Most of the acreage consists of slanted hills covered in shale. Some of the acreage is low-lying quality peat soil, along the river.Farming infrastructure consists of a new, well-built shed used for storing vehicles, tractors, and equipment, an enclosed barn used for storing fodder and a 3-pen milking parlour. All are in good repair.A modern open-plan two-bedroom / two-bathroom homestead is set in scenic surroundings with panoramic views over the irrigation areas, the river area, and mountains in the distance.
