ADELAIDE / FORT BEAUFORT: Livestock with ample irrigation water

Three adjacent livestock farms with irrigation and ample water. Farms are adjacent to a river.

FARM A: This 867-ha farm consist of 2 title deeds.
It has 10-hectare under irrigation of which 0,5 hectare are planted with pecan nuts and the rest is under citrus which needs to be replaced.

Ample water with registered water usage rights of 165,579-cub metre. Situated on a sulphur bath, the capacity is 25,000 l/hour and has never dried up during the last 23 years. The livestock carrying capacity is 1:6 LSU and the natural veldt is in good condition. Rainfall is about 550mm per annum.

The entire farm is camped into 13 inner-camps and drinking water for livestock is obtained from various troughs as well as from the river. Water is piped to a central reservoir then gravitated to the camps. The boundary fence is netted. Large dipping tank, cattle kraal, race and neck clamp as well as small holding camps are conveniently close to the homestead.

The farm has 2 weirs in the river and the one has a 5,5Kwa river pump which irrigates the orchards and sends water to a reservoir above the house.

The main 4-bedroom homestead boasts with 2 bathrooms, lounge, dining room and kitchen. Other buildings are a garage with space for 3 vehicles and a large implement shed. There is also a granny flat, ironing- and meat room. The 10 staff houses are not in good repair.

Game includes Kudu, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck, warthog, and duiker etc.

The are no permanent staff on the farm and are no land of grazing claims.

FARM B: This 430-hectare farm consist of 1 title deed.
About 36-hectare of the acreage is under irrigation of which 2-hectare is planted to pecan nuts (Witchatar) and 34-hectare to citrus that varies in age, production and variety.

Water is obtained from 2 concrete weirs in the Koonap river which has been very consistent over the years. The bottom weir seems to have an underground feed because it never dried up even in the worst drought of 2019. There are 2 boreholes but need to be re-established.

Buildings are a large implement shed, workshop, 2 staff houses. Additional infrastructure are 2 Eskom points and a gantry to load citrus.

Game includes Hartebeest (30) kudu, mountain reedbuck, bushbuck, warthog and duiker etc.

Veldt is divided into 3 camps and stock drink from the river at the moment. There is a bosal pipe leading into the veld but needs to be completed.

FARM C: This 708-hectare consists of 1 title deed.
The farm is divided into 10 inner-camps and livestock drinking water is from the river, stock dams and drinking troughs.

About 6-hectare of the acreage is under irrigation and the potential exists to develop more. The 2 concrete weirs supply water for irrigation. There is a pump in the one weir to irrigate the orchards.

A borehole has a capacity of 5,000 l/hour.

The large old farmhouse that needs restoration. Other infrastructure is a large lucerne shed and another implement shed.
