Petra's Country Guesthouse is affordable self-catering accommodation, situated on a farm. The guest house is a historic Victorian sandstone homestead in the Skurweberg Valley, only 9 km from Vryheid. We offer comfortable fully equipped units, hosting up to 45 guests. There are rooms available for singles, couples, or groups. There are beautiful mountain views, clean air and fresh spring water. Fundamentally a coal mining and beef farming town, Vryheid lies roughly 70 km northeast of Dundee in Zululand. Whilst Vryheid’s surrounds are largely dominated by timber farming and crops such as groundnuts and maize, the town also lies near the sources of four major rivers named the White and Black Umfolozi, Mkhuze and Pongolo.Access to the wetlands in the area are thus good, and some of them are of regional importance, which is of added benefit to birdwatchers and provides a diversity of scenery for hikers to the area, coupled with the added value of several nature reserves.
