Junior and Senior Mechanical Draughtsman

A very busy design and manufacturing concern based in Blackheath, Cape Town is now seeking to fill two vacancies within their Drawing Office. The positions available are for a Junior and Senior Mechanical Draughtsman, who will assist the existing team to produce accurate design drawings.     These positions will be reporting to the Factory Manager and the Engineering co-ordinator. *Specific responsibilities:*   * Produce* *outline designs and conceptual drawings as required by clients. * Evaluate theoretical designs. * Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics and material specifications. * Provide an effective and reliable draughting service * Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements * Manage and prioritise several activities simultaneously to ensure drawings do not become the bottle neck * Maintain expected personal administration * Gather required engineering information * Perform site visits if required * Perform tasks in compliance with the Company’s Systems, Standards and Procedures * Promote the company image and team cohesion through effective communication and liaison. * Understanding that additional responsibilities outside the above-mentioned scope may be required from time to time. *Minimum requirements:* * A proven solid track record of between (2 – 4 years) for the junior position and (5 – 10  years) for the Senior Draughtsman , with specific experience in drawing, design and draughting * Relevant technical draughting qualification ( specifically in Mechanical Engineering) * Proven proficiency in using *Solid Works Software*, without supervision and or assistance * Proven proficiency in using Microsoft packages * The ability to communicate in English on all levels in the organization * Mechanical workshop exposure and experience * Valid driver’s licence   *Key skill set:*   * It is critical to have an ability to work under pressure * An ability to ‘think’ on your feet and solve problems * Must be deadline driven * Confident to question and verify information. * Attention to detail is critical * Highly motivated and enthusiastic * Analytical thinker * Self- managing, with a high degree of personal accountability   Salary offered is between R150 000 to R350 000 cost to company.
