Description
Provides quality installation, inspections, maintenance and repair service for all electrical activities and equipment.  A field service electrician will also uphold the highest level of professional integrity and ethics as required to install customer confidence and continued success in service. Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes. Most electricians specialize in either construction or maintenance, a growing number do both. *Key Performance Areas:   * * Electrical construction, Electrical installation, Electrical inspection, Electrical fault finding and repair, Electrical maintenance * They keep the generators, lighting, and electrical systems in working order. * Electricians diagnose problems and then repair or replace defective parts. * They are accountable for the upkeep and proper functionality of all electrical equipment and systems in a facility                                               *Key Activities:  *    * Maintain all infrastructure and services as per job card for maximum availability. * Perform planned maintenance tasks and routine inspections in a cost-effective manner. * Responsible for all safety aspects during maintenance tasks. * Wirer Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment: * Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. * Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed. * Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, for example hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender. *  Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. * Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools. * Installs control and distribution apparatus, for example switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools. * Connects power cables to equipment, for example electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. * Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, for example ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. * Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. * May also repair faulty equipment or systems * Electricians test equipment and replace circuit breakers and switches and may need to act quickly when a breakdown occurs * They must be able to tell management whether the problem can be corrected and whether b
